Available spots
Description
This is a hands-on, 4-week course designed to take the mystery out of basic motorcycle maintenance. To keep things practical and interactive, cohorts are capped at 4 students. Sessions are held once a week for 1.5 to 2 hours in-person at our Draper shop. No prior mechanical experience needed, and you don't need to currently own a motorcycle. Just bring your curiosity! If you find this course fully booked, please join the waitlist! We will add additional 4-student cohorts if there are enough waiting to participate. The topics and subjects we will cover during the four week course: WEEK 1: Get familiar with all the parts of your motorcycle by learning how to perform a thorough pre-ride safety check. Learn how to set up your controls for comfort and safety. These skills are helpful for when inspecting a used bike before purchase, too! WEEK 2: Learn about the purpose and function of the fluids in your engine and drivetrain. Learn how to properly perform routine maintenance such as oil and filter changes. We'll perform a service together using one of our bikes. WEEK 3: Learn about chain, belt, and shaft drivetrain maintenance. How to adjust chain tension, learning when it's time to replace sprockets, and how to lube them properly. We'll also discuss which tools you should acquire to build out a custom tool kit for your motorcycle. WEEK 4: Batteries 101, detailing, & off-season storage. We'll learn about battery basics, including how to troubleshoot electrical issues, keeping your battery healthy, and how to jump start a motorcycle. We'll also share advice about cleaning and detailing your bike, and what you need to do to prepare it for winter storage.
