Paracord is a motocamper's "duct tape". Whether you are lashing gear to your rack, adding extra guy lines to your tent in a windstorm, or hanging your food from a tree, we strongly recommend including a length of paracord in your multi-day ride kit.
Why We Like ItWe carry these three specific variants from UST because they cover the spectrum from simple utility to emergency survival. These hanks are pre-wrapped for compact storage, making them easy to toss into a pannier or tank bag without ending up with a tangled mess. From hanging wet riding gear to securing a loose muffler, these cords are built to hold under tension. Not to be used for climbing.
Choose Your Strength
325 Reflective, 50 ft.: This thinner cord is perfect for ridgelines, clotheslines, and guy-lines. The reflective tracers are a massive benefit at a dark campsite, preventing you from tripping over your bike or gear in the middle of the night.
550 Standard. 30 ft.: This 100% nylon cord is a little thicker than 325, but more rugged for heavy-duty tasks like hanging bear bags from trees or strapping gear to motorcycles
550 ParaTinder, 30 ft.: A clever invention, this cord functions exactly like regular 550 paracord but includes a red core strand that can serve as a wax-impregnated fire starter in a pinch
Note
Nylon paracord looses tension when it gets wet. A sliding hitch knot (tautline or trucker's) or a toggle will allow you to effortlessly adjust tension.
