August in Utah brings warm days and a vibrant lineup of events perfect for extending your summer riding adventures. From high-mountain Oktoberfest celebrations and classic county fairs to international art festivals and unique hot air balloon spectacles, this month offers a diverse array of experiences scattered across all ends of the state.
As part of our continuing series on monthly events, discover your next memorable destination as you make the most of your summer journeys throughout Utah!

Events
Kimball Arts Festival
August 1-3, Park City
Taking place in the heart of picturesque Park City, this premier art event showcases a diverse collection of jury-selected artists across various mediums, from painting and sculpture to jewelry and digital art. Beyond browsing unique pieces, visitors can enjoy experiential and performance art, making it a vibrant celebration of artistic expression and community connection amidst the beautiful mountain town. Pit stop at one of Main Street's many restaurants or bars for a break between events.

Summit County Fair
August 4-10, Coalville
This week-long event offers classic fair fun for the whole family, with highlights including thrilling PRCA Rodeos, an action-packed Demolition Derby, youth events, and a vibrant carnival. Visitors can also explore exhibits showcasing local home goods, flowers, and locally-sourced produce and dairy.
Admission: Free, but some special events have entry fees (demo derby, rodeo, carnival ride tickets)
Sandy Balloon Festival
August 8-9, Sandy
Set your alarm, because this event kicks off with early morning hot air balloon launches starting around sunrise (6:30 a.m.) On Saturday evening, head to the Sandy City Promenade for a evening events including illuminated balloons, a DJ dance party, a drone show, and other free activities.
Admission: Free!
Snowbird's Oktoberfest
August 9 - October 12, Snowbird Resort
Experience a taste of Bavaria high in the Wasatch Mountains. Oktoberfest runs ten weekends every Saturday and Sunday, plus Labor Day, from 12p - 6p. This large event features live music, traditional Bavarian food, and over 50 varieties of beer including local Utah brews. While you're there, enjoy Snowbird's other summer activities like scenic tram rides and hiking, or make it a weekend with an overnight stay at one of their resort hotels
Admission: Free, but some parking lots have a $15 daily fee. Parallel parking on the road is free, but be aware of restricted parking zones. The event is cashless.
Legends Weekend
August 22-23, Kanab
Step back into the Old West at this Southern Utah festival, where the spirit of the Western frontier truly comes alive. Enjoy a wide array of activities, from live Western music, cowboy poetry, and a High Noon parade featuring Texas Longhorns, to a street fair, Mountain Man Display, and celebrity autograph sessions. The festival also features a Legends Rodeo, team roping showdowns, and a Quilt Show, offering a unique blend of heritage and entertainment.

Dinah "Soar" Days
August 22-24, Vernal
This event playfully nods to the area's paleontological roots with its "Dinah-Soar" name, with hot air balloons offering a vibrant sight in the Uintah Basin sky. Beyond the balloons, the festival offers a variety of events on Main Street, including a car show and food trucks. While you're in the region, consider a ride north to Flaming Gorge, or east to Dinosaur, Colorado.

National Park Information
Please note that there may be delays entering gated parks, increased crowds, or reduced services due to staffing shortages. We suggest making campsite reservations early using the Recreation.gov website or mobile app. And as usual, leave no trace and be kind to park workers.
Arches: Advanced timed entry reservations are not required this month until August 28. After this date, you will need to make a reservation before you arrive at the gates. We suggest doing this at least a few days in advance of your intended Arches visit.
Bryce Canyon: No advance reservations required
Canyonlands: No advance reservations required. Traveling the White Rim Trail requires a backcountry permit
Capitol Reef: No advance reservations required
Zion: It is currently shuttle season. You cannot ride or drive the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive during shuttle season and must take a free shuttle that does not require advance reservation. There are other great roads near and through Zion N.P. that can be explored on a motorcycle!
Statewide seasonal roads
All roads are open until autumn!
