Peregrine's self-inflating (aka "hybrid") lineup offers a range of options from lightweight minimalist pads to extra-wide "luxury" mats. These pads use open-cell foam that expands automatically, providing a more stable and puncture-resistant surface than traditional air-only mattresses while increasing the R-value compared to air-only pads. 

Why We Like It
The standout feature of this series is the self-inflating foam material inside the pad. R-value, which measures a pad's ability to resist heat loss to the ground. With ratings ranging from 3.2 to 4.6, these pads are true 3-to-4-season tools. The Pro-Stretch models specifically feature a soft-touch top fabric that eliminates the "crinkly" noise common in ultralight gear, while the heavy-duty 75D polyester bottom handles the abrasive soils and rocks of the backcountry without needing a footprint.

Notes
Hybrid sleeping pads are my preference when compared to closed-cell foam or air-only pads. When you get to camp, open the valve immediately and let it sit while you set up your tent. You can blow it up or use a micro-inflator if you aren't patient. Adjust the pressure so that when you're laying on your back or side, you are just barely floating above the ground. When rolling up your pad, kneel on the pad as you roll to get all the air out of the pad.
