The Spanner is a multi-purpose cover that packs down tighter than a traditional tarp. Whether you need a rain fly for your hammock, a dry cooking space at your campground, or a way to keep the dew off your bike, this tarp is versatile and durable.

Why We Like It

Unlike the thick tarps you find at home improvement stores, the Spanner is made from 68D polyester with a PU 1500 waterproof coating. This means it is both quiet in the wind and completely waterproof. It features 19 reinforced attachment points, allowing you to pitch it in dozens of configurations. Use a ridgeline between trees to create an A-frame over a hammock or a parked motorcycle, or lash it to your parked bike to create a low-profile gear stash spot. This kit includes stakes and guy lines with reflective tracers. You'll need to provide your own paracord for a ridgeline.

Options

  • 9.8' x 9.8' (3 x 3 m): Ideal size for a hammock fly or covering a single motorcycle. It strikes the best balance between total coverage and pack weight.

  • 13.5' x 13.5' (4.1 x 4.1 m): Larger option if you want to build a space to stand and work outside of your small tent

Notes

If I have space, I have recently started including a camping tarp and paracord in my kit. My 2P tent is small and short, so having a more comfortable space for lounging, cooking, or changing is really nice!
